As the Manchester City fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern hotly discuss just what is going wrong under Pep Guardiola right now, the Sky Blues crowded around the pool tables have been shocked to read a report from Duncan Castles on Yahoo.
It’s claimed the Spanish coach is prepared to listen to offers for star striker Sergio Aguero as he continues his rebuild at the Etihad. Clearly one of the best strikers in the world, the Argentine hasn’t always commanded a regular stating berth, dropped for a big Champions League game against Barcelona.
Top brass in Manchester are said to harbour doubts over the 28-year-old’s injury and disciplinary record and he is not thought to be seen as an ideal fit for the style of football Guardiola is looking to bring to City. The report suggests the Premier League giants have taken the decision to ‘float’ the former Atletico Madrid across the transfer market, reportedly with a view to a summer sale.
Guardiola and those behind the scenes are understood to view new arrival Gabriel Jesus as a player more suited to his free-flowing style of play and Aguero could well be on his way out of the side he joined back in 2011.
As you’d well imagine, the local City fans are gutted to read such a story. Having watched Joe Hart ruthlessly axed already, the notion of seeing Aguero (who scored THAT goal against QPR) also depart is a tad too much for them.
