The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are merrily singing songs around the bar as the signings seem to be flooding into the Etihad. There is also news coming in to the tavern that Man City are set to Splash the cash on an exciting defender.
The Mirror reports that Manchester City are ready to pay Aymeric Laporte’s £40 million buy-out clause in order to secure is services next season.
Laporte, 22, has had a magnificent rise to fame during his 6 years at Athletic Bilbao and a number of top European clubs are monitoring the defender.
However, a possible stumbling block for City is that the fact Laporte is very loyal to Los Leones and has even reportedly told the Basque giants that he will consider their new contract, which would make him their highest ever paid player.
It is claimed that Pep Guardiola will attempt to gazump Bilbao’s contract offer and hand the Frenchman a staggering £120,000 a week, triple what he is thought to be on in Northern Spain
