The Manchester City fans who are gathered at the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club could soon be making their second signing of the summer.
Spanish outlet TV3, via The Sun is reporting that the Premier League side have activated the £14 million release clause in Celta Vigo striker Nolito’s contract.
The Spanish forward is expected to sign a three-year deal at the Etihad, with the option of a further year over the next couple of days.
The 29-year old was hoping to return to former club Barcelona, but with no bid forthcoming he is understood to have decided that he is better off joining former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in England.
City are in need of new striker this summer with Sergio Aguero the only experienced striker in the ranks with the club expected to sell £28m flop Wilfried Bony this summer.
Currently on La Roja duty at Euro 2016, he will become Guardiola’s second signing of the summer following Ilkay Gudongan to the Etihad Stadium so far with more signings expected in the coming weeks.
Is Nolito worth £14m?
