For the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern, this season has proved to be somewhat of a mixed bag under Pep Guardiola as the Spaniard begins what is hopefully a long-term project on these shores.
While the Sky Blues have looked imperious at times this term, there’s little doubt a defensive frailty has also proved to be such as much of a sewing motif as the intricate attacking play that made the former Barcelona coach so famous. Things have been improving in recent weeks of course, due in no small part to the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian linked up with his City teammates at long last in January after initially signing in the summer, scoring 2 goals in his 2 full games at the club thus far. Alongside Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, the Selecao samba star looks a natural fit to lead the line.
As a result, that looks to have left City legend Sergio Aguero at a crossroads. Perhaps the most popular player in the club’s history, the Argentine is undoubtedly one of the elite marksmen in Europe, though doesn’t have a regular berth in this system.
Still, reports from ESPN today have calmed our Sky Blues propping up the bar down somewhat. With Aguero linked with a move away of late, they claim the Etihad giants have NO intention of letting him leave, much to the delight of all in the bar.
Would City be stupid to sell Aguero? Let us know below…
