Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking for the club to go one better next season and try and win the Champions League, as it continues to elude them.
Pep Guardiola’s side raced away with the Premier League title last year, however, the Spaniard is expected to continue his heavy spending this summer as he looks to increase the quality and depth of his squad.
The Citizens have been looking to bring Jorginho from Napoli, however, it appears that a deal could be hard to get across the line and according to reports they have started to look for other possible solutions in case it does not happen.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are considering a surprise move for Southampton’s Mario Lemina. Guardiola has been monitoring the 24-year-old since he joined the Saints from Juventus and has been impressed with his progress and would be comfortable with him.
The Gabonese international wouldn’t be a huge name addition, though could prove a clever signing, especially if he can capture the kind of form he showed while at Marseille.
The Manchester City fans will be surprised to have been linked with Lemina as a possible transfer target should they fail to bring Jorginho to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Brazilian-Italian midfielder is obviously at the top of their list and City rarely fail to bring in who they want and the locals in the Tavern will be hoping they can bring the Napoli man to the Premier League.
