Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are have been sat in the bar in disbelief all day as they are hearing news that a monumental bid for one of Pep Guardiola’s main targets has been rejected.
News has made it’s way to the staff here in the bar that Man City have had an offer of £38m for Juventus and Italy defender, Leonardo Bonucci, rejected – according to Sky Sports.
The 29-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to join his international manager, Antonio Conte, at Chelsea after playing a shining role in their impressive run at Euro 2016 this summer.
The former Inter Milan youngster has 62 caps for his country and would be another superb element of the Guardiola revolution at the Etihad, with two other big names in Gundogan and Nolito having already joined the new boss in Manchester.
However, with the £38m bid seemingly not enough, any deal that could go through will cost the Sky Blues with Manchester Evening News reporting that City may have to stump up more than £50m.
City fans, we want to hear from you! Should Guardiola pull out all the stops to bring Bonucci in? Or are there better, cheaper, options out there? Let us know below…
