News has made its way through the doors of the Football Transfer Tavern that is drawing interest from a group of Man City fans in for the 2-4-1 dinner deal this evening.
According to The Sun, Man City are lining up a move for ‘one of the most promising defenders in the game’, Athletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez.
The 20-year-old has impressed at Athletico over the last season, forcing his way into Diego Simeone’s side during the second half of the season.
The centre-half has also been working his way through the international ranks at youth level for France, having featured at every level from U16 through to U20.
The highly rated youngster has a reported £20m release clause in his contract meaning that should City match that and the player decides to leave, Simeone and Athletico would be unable to block the move.
A defender is a top priority for Guardiola as he looks to overhaul his new side, having already been linked with both Leonardo Bonucci and John Stones, this summer.
City fans, we want to hear from you! What would you make of this signing? Would he be a better option at £20m than either Stones or Bonucci for upwards of £50m? Let us know in the comments below…
