Guardiola slams the breaks on move for Euro 2016 star

City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are slightly taken a back by news that has made its way into the bar here claiming that the club are not willing to stump up the huge fee demanded for one of their major summer targets.

According to reports on ESPN, Man City are refusing to meet Inter Milan’s asking price for their defensive stalwart, Leonardo Bonucci.

The Sky Blues had already had a reported £38m bid rejected by Roberto Mancini’s side, who are rumoured to be asking for upwards of £50m for the 29-year-old.

However, according to ESPN, new Man City boss, Pep Guardiola is refusing to meet such a high valuation for the Italian international, who played a key role in Antonio Conte’s side during the European Championships this summer.

It appears that a defender is high on Guardiola’s wish list this summer as he carries out his overhaul of the squad ahead of the new season.

City Fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think the club should just offer up the money and get the deal over the line? Let us know below…
