Manchester City were rampant against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad recently, which helped send a message to Liverpool as they secured a 3-0 win.
The Citizens haven’t quite been at their best in the current campaign but there’s still plenty of time for that to change, with a long way to go in the title race.
But, a lot of City supporters will be disappointed with their side’s recent reported transfer decision, as according to ESPN, Pep Guardiola has ruled out making a move for Real Madrid’s Isco.
Indeed, the Manchester club could have done with a big signing boost this month to aid their title push.
Nevertheless, here’s TWO reasons as to why Man City fans must hope this transfer report isn’t true…
LONG-TERM DAVID SILVA REPLACEMENT
David Silva has been a great servant for Manchester City over the years, as the player with the most amount of Premier League appearances to his name at the Etihad.
However, he may not have many more years left in him at the age of 33, with Phil Foden coming up through the ranks and other potential signings being made. Despite his age, he has continuously put in world-class performances for the Citizens in the current campaign, with nine goals and six assists to his name.
Indeed, deciding against securing the services of Isco is a brave decision as he would be the perfect replacement for his fellow countryman in many ways, with his pace, skill and eagle eye for goal making him almost identical to Silva.
TOP-TIER PLAYER WHO COULD HELP TAKE THEM TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Manchester City have been outstanding for large parts of the current campaign, both domestically and in Europe.
Guardiola has one of the most dangerous attacks in world football at his disposal, as the likes of David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva have all been world-class.
However, adding another top-tier attacker to their ranks would take them to the next level and could easily push them up the ranks in the Premier League and in Europe. Isco’s passing ability and vision would help provide the likes of Jesus and Aguero with lots more chances, which more often than not will end up in the back of the net.
