It’s vital that Manchester City win the race for Jovane Cabral

Manchester City remain unbeaten in the Premier League after four games played.

The Citizens sit fourth heading into the international break, behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Watford. Pep Guardiola’s men have beaten Arsenal, Huddersfield and Newcastle this season but failed to break the deadlock during a 0-0 draw with Wolves. City welcome newly-promoted Fulham to the Etihad Stadium when the international fixtures conclude.

The transfer window may be closed, but City should be keeping tabs on one of the most promising youngsters emerging in Portugal. The Citizens are eager to build for the future as well as adding to their star-studded lineup and Sporting Lisbon forward, Jovane Cabral has been tipped to become a huge star. The forward has reportedly attracted interest from both Barcelona and Real Madrid; Manchester City should aim to beat them to his signature.

Valued at £248k by Transfermarkt, Cabral progressed through the youth ranks at Sporting and played for their B team before joining the senior ranks this season. The youngster made an instant impact at the club, starting the season with a goal and assist despite not starting in any of his three appearances.

The 20-year-old has already made his debut for the Cape Verde national team, and Sporting are desperate to tie him down to a new contract with a higher release clause. However, the allure of the Premier League and the chance to work under Guardiola could prove too hard to turn down.

City should be keeping a close eye on his progress as January approaches.
