Major Man City deal thrown into doubt as Guardiola hits £50m buffers

With Manchester United threatening to break all manner of records in the market, the Man City supporting locals in the Transfer Tavern are rather ironically becoming fed up of their noisy neighbours.

Still, the lavish funds available to Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium sees the Sky Blues linked with major moves for blockbuster names themselves.

Everton and England defender John Stones has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester to join the Spaniard’s revolution, in a deal that could see him become the most expensive defender ever.

While the Citizens were said to be hoping to complete a £40m deal for the 22-year old, the club have reportedly been knocked back in those attempts.

According to Sky Sports, the Toffees (with huge investment themselves) have told their Premier League rivals that they value the former Barnsley trainee at a whopping £50m.

The Merseyside outfit took a hardline approach to Chelsea’s pursuit of the player last summer and look to be doing the same this time around.

Will Stones join City? Surely £50m is far too much?! Let us know below…
