Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see some moves and, according to The Mirror, they may be about to see one in the shape of Barnsley’s James Bree.
City have become notorious for spending in the transfer market of late and so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them go for Bree, who has impressed in the Championship so far.
He can play as a right back or in midfield and that suggests to many here by the bar that he is in the mould of Pep Guardiola’s style of player.
The Spanish boss likes to put full backs into midfield and so if Bree can already do that, as well as show other qualities good enough for the Premier League, there’s no reason why City shouldn’t go for him.
There’s competition for his signature according to the report, though, with the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs all having an interest and so we could be in for a great transfer battle.
Our landlord reckons Bree should go to City, though, as he has the attributes to suggest he can adapt to Guardiola’s style quickly.
