Lots of Manchester City fans were delighted to hear that veteran midfielder David Silva could be extending his stay at the club.
The Times reported that the 34-year-old, who was due to end his 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium in June, is willing to extend his contract for the remainder of the season in order to play in his team’s remaining fixtures in 2019/20.
As noted by The Times, Pep Guardiola’s side still have 10 Premier League matches to play and are still in the FA Cup and Champions League, meaning that their season could extend into August even if it is resumed on 12 June as hoped.
Has David Silva been Manchester City's best player of the last 10 years?
Silva announced last summer that this would be his final season at Manchester City, having signed from Valencia in 2010. The Spaniard has won 13 trophies in his time in England, including four Premier League titles, and there are plans to mark his service to the club with a mosaic at their training ground. He was hailed by Jamie Carragher as one of the greatest imports in Premier League history on Sky Sports [via Sports Joe].
These Manchester City fans were thrilled to hear that their long-serving maestro could extend his stay at the club for another while yet:
