Manchester City: Fans debate ‘inconsistent’ Raheem Sterling - Manchester City

The form of Raheem Sterling was debated by numerous Manchester City fans on social media following a tweet by @City_Chief asking followers to describe the winger.

The 25-year-old began the season in scintillating fashion with five goals in his first three Premier League games, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 win at West Ham. He also gave a virtuoso display in the 5-1 Champions League drubbing of Atalanta, scoring a hat-trick and setting up the other two goals for his team. [via TransferMarkt]

Sterling, who has been capped 56 times by England, has found the net 20 times in all competitions this term, including 11 Premier League strikes, but remarkably every one of those goals came before the start of 2020. Not since his double in the 3-2 defeat at Wolves just after Christmas has he been on the scoresheet, with his last 12 appearances failing to yield a goal. [via TransferMarkt]

The winger was hailed as one of the “five best players in the world” by Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport (via Daily Mail) after his treble against Atalanta but his subsequent goal drought saw him overlooked for inclusion in the BBC’s Premier League Team of the Season, which was announced yesterday following a public vote.

Have you been impressed with Raheem Sterling's 2019/20 season overall?

These Manchester City fans took to Twitter to have their say on Sterling, with some labelling him “inconsistent” and “like a pack of Revels”:
