The Premier League announced on Thursday that the 2019/20 season will resume behind closed doors on 17 June, a decision which has split opinion among some Manchester City fans.
The news was broken yesterday afternoon by The Telegraph‘s Jason Burt, who revealed that the champions’ home clash against Arsenal will be one of two fixtures played on the restart date, the other being Aston Villa v Sheffield United. The update was later shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra.

It was subsequently announced that all 92 remaining fixtures would be shown live between Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC and Amazon Prime, with many of the matches being made available free-to-air. Kick-off times will be staggered so that as many matches as possible will be shown without clashing with other games. [via The Athletic]
The resumption of English domestic football could benefit Manchester City as the FA Cup is set to resume towards the end of June, giving them a realistic chance of adding that to their successful retention of the Carabao Cup this season. There is also the pleasure of seeing their team in action again after a three-month hiatus.
Do you think restarting the Premier League is the right decision?
However, with rivals Liverpool virtually certain to take their Premier League title and coronavirus leading to almost 38,000 deaths so far in the UK, as well as prompting the season to be concluded behind closed doors, some Cityzens were less than enthusiastic about football’s return.

Glad to have the season back, shame I can’t drink cups of Liverpool tears though. Oh well, such is life.

No crowds no point. Pity the players cramming all these games in to complete season risking injury with the new season almost straight after.

Players should refuse. Like schools opening it is too soon. When one or two stars test positive maybe they will rethink.
In any case football without fans is meaningless.
