Manchester City: Fans call for Premier League season not to resume after further positive tests - Manchester City

A number of Manchester City fans have called for the Premier League season to be brought to an end following confirmation of four more positive coronavirus tests on Wednesday.

As noted by Sky Sports, the third round of testing at all 20 top-flight clubs yielded four new cases of COVID-19 from three different clubs out of 1,008 tests conducted, following eight cases from 1,744 tests in the previous two rounds of testing since 17 May. The latest results were also shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra.

The latest phase of the Premier League’s Project Restart yesterday saw clubs approve a return to contact training, with teams returning to socially distant training in recent days, with a mid-June resumption date for matches still being targeted. [via Sky Sports]

The current league table sees Manchester City in second place, albeit with 25 points to make up on runaway leaders Liverpool, whom they pipped to the title last year to win back-to-back league crowns.
