Man City just smashed the Premier League but have already made a summer transfer mistake

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern as expected are in great spirits after their double-winning season.

The football, management and players have all been terrific and have added together to allow City to walk towards the Premier League title. Their team have been so brilliant that it really is hard to think of improvements they could make but our punters feel that the Citizens should have added to their squad depth by utilising returning loanee Pablo Maffeo, who is valued at £6.7 million on Transfermarkt.

However, it has recently been confirmed that the player would be moving to German side Stuttgart, representing a transfer mistake from City in the eyes of our punters.

The young Spaniard has been in tremendous form whilst out on-loan with La Liga side Girona, so much so that we see no reason for him to become a rotation player at least at the Etihad. Maffeo can also play as a centre-back or as a right midfielder so the versatility of the Spaniard surely makes him even more desirable for the Manchester City set-up.

Kyle Walker has without a doubt been one of the unsung heroes for the Citizens this season and there is no way right now that Pablo Maffeo could replace him in the side. However, healthy competition is always a good thing to have in a team and Maffeo could have gained experience in cup competitions to see if he could really make it in England.

Whether or not he comes back to the Etihad remains to be seen, though our local Sky Blues aren’t all too happy.
