Manchester City

Man City legend no longer good enough for Guardiola’s slick new side – Agreed?

City fans here in the Tavern find themselves in absolute dreamland, following the impressive start made to the new season.

Manchester City are currently in the midst of their most formidable start to a season under the genius that is Pep Guardiola, having undergone a near perfect start to proceedings with their priceless unbeaten streak still in check.

Much of the plaudits have been driven towards the devastation of the terrific trio; Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus who have all been at the forefront of creating and providing the vast majority of goals scored by the side.

But of course, success doesn’t come without defensive solidity, with unsung heroes lurking in the shadows.

John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi are taking on the most amount of game-time in the central-defensive area, by dishing out 18 and 19 appearances in all competitions respectively.

Surely, the viable defensive partnership moving forward?

The forgotten man Vincent Kompany has shared a torrid time of late since he succumbed to a calf muscle strain back at the end of August, which has been the reason behind his lowly 8 appearances so far this season.

Having gone unbeaten without the Belgian’s abilities and leadership, questions continue to be asked about the necessity of having him in the starting line-up.

The Landlord here in the Tavern has the opinion that Vincent Kompany’s lack of game-time over the past couple of seasons has resulted in his services not being needed, with an ever-blossoming partnership between Stones and Otamendi proving to be evidently worthy of the title-winning position they find themselves in.

Sorry Vincent, but City have moved on without you.

So, we’re asking fans, are City a better team without Kompany?
