Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for their side to get going this season as they think they are serious title contenders.
Indeed, it would be hard to agree with that as Pep Guardiola has really splashed the cash – particularly on full-backs.
Indeed, he needed to after a summer exodus of the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna and you’d say he’s upgraded with Kyle Walker, Danilo and Bernard Mendy arriving.
For sure, then, things are looking good for City but one transfer that remains unresolved is that surrounding Alexis Sanchez and whether he will leave Arsenal for the Etihad.
The forward is yet to sign a new deal with Arsenal and could leave on a free next summer with him apparently wanting £400,000 a week.
City are more likely to be able to afford that, then, and if the Gunners decide they want some cash for him, they’ll have to sell quickly.
Sanchez is one of the world class players the Premier League has to bolster so it’s no wonder that he wants to be playing at the very highest level.
Indeed, he’s nearing the last few years at the top and ultimately wants to be in the Champions League – something Arsenal cannot offer right now.
Certainly, then, the Gunners should try to cash in as this looks a forgone conclusion and a case of when, not if.
