Man City should look at Kompany’s £36m-rated classy countryman as his replacement

Manchester City fans throughout the Transfer Tavern are strolling past punters with confidence knowing that their team has completely dominated the Premier League this season and the trophy will be returning to the Etihad.

The Citizens have improved in every aspect of their game and spending that huge amount before the season looks more than justified now. One problem that has unfortunately occurred this season mind you is the decline of Vincent Kompany’s fitness, as the centre-back has only managed to play in 15 games all season due to the continuous injury spells.

As ever, the captain has been assertive and controlling when on the pitch but his fitness and injuries seem to be worsening every year, giving Manchester City the conundrum of whether they go out and find a replacement.

If they do decide that this summer is the ideal time to source a replacement for Kompany considering his contract expires in the summer of 2019, Toby Alderweireld is a player that City must acquire to maintain the same defensive qualities.

The 29-year-old Tottenham defender has been at the heart of Spurs’ defence for the last few years and the defender would strongly be considered as one of the leagues best. Alderweireld has featured in 17 games for Tottenham this season, more than Vincent Kompany even though he hasn’t played since October because of a serious hamstring injury.

Alderweireld is surely nearing a return to action soon after playing for Belgium and, therefore, City may see this summer as the perfect opportunity to pounce on the defender.

With a top quality defender valued at just £36.00 million on Transfermarkt, Man City will definitely look to sign Alderweireld as they look to dominate the Premier League again next season.
