Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still catching their breaths after last night’s thrilling game against Monaco in the Champions League.
The game really was a fine advertisement for attacking play as both sides came into the match with the obvious intention of out-scoring the other.
In the end the game finished 5-3 to the Citizens though there were some detractions concerning the club’s defence once again.
It’s been a recurring theme for them this season and whilst you’d expect them to bolster that area in the summer it appears that they could in fact lose one of their main defenders.
Nicolas Otamendi has been a regular this season with the likes of Vincent Kompany injured and he could just move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the summer – according to his agent.
Quoted by The Metro the player’s representative Martin Sendoa said:
“Madrid have followed him since his time at Valencia along with Barcelona.”
Otamendi impressed during his time at Valencia in La Liga – leading to his move to Man City in the first place.
He’s not quite hit those heights since but it’s apparent the Spanish giants still remember how good he can be and our landlord reckons he’ll certainly be tempted to move.
