Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a successful 2017 and may be about to start in the right way with The Daily Star reporting Aymeric Laporte may be open to a move.
The Citizens have not had it all their own way this season after initial suggestions were that they were going to run away and hide with the Premier League title.
Instead they have been reeled in and overtaken by the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool thanks to defensive errors that have cost them dear.
And it is that that needs to be fixed, so the comments of Laporte should be welcomed.
The French defender was a target of City’s in the summer but a deal did not go through. However, he appears to be more open to a move now in a deal that would cost £55 million thanks to his current release clause in his contract.
The Athletic Bilbao man said:
“You have to think about offers and, if new proposals come along, I will study them.”
Our landlord reckons City simply have to go for the French defender as he has the potential to be world class and, given that he’d consider a move, they could be able to get him in in the very near future.
