Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have taken a nervous gulp of their pints this morning, as they fear a huge blow could derail their battle to finish in the top-four.
The Daily Star states Manchester City will discover the full extent of Sergio Aguero’s injury issue today but the Citizens fear their Argentine hitman could be out for the remainder of the season, leaving a huge hole to fill.
Aguero has scored in 13 of his last 14 Manchester City matches and is a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s side that’s pushing for a finish in the Champions League spots, where they currently hold a slender one-point advantage over rivals Manchester United with four games to go.
Manchester City have a favourable run-in with consecutive home clashes with Crystal Palace, Leicester City and West Brom before completing their campaign with a trip to Watford but the absence of Aguero could be a major issue.
The Citizens will look to young starlet Gabriel Jesus for inspiration, as the Brazilian has scored four goals in four starts since arriving in January, but the Rio 2016 Gold medallist has played just once since February.
Our landlord believes the absence of Aguero would blow the top-four race wide open and he’s pointed to the importance of this weekend’s clash between Manchester United and Arsenal.
