It has always been a productive summer for Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern as the club looks to gets their recruitment finished early and today the Sunday People writes that incoming Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini has asked his new bosses to sanction a £30 million summer move for Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria.
After the arrival of Sevilla’s Jesus Navas and Brazilian international Fernandinho last week, City’s spending has already surpassed the £50 million mark this summer and Pellegrini has now made the highly rated Argentine winger his next target as he looks to bring the title back to the blue half of Manchester.
The ex-Malaga manager is also seeking to bring playmaker Isco to the Etihad Stadium while the chase for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani continues despite Chelsea’s reported interest.
Real Madrid have no plans to sell the former Benfica man this post-season but an offer of around £30 million may still see the 25-year-old arrive in England with City’s main transfer men Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano set to fly out to Spain next week.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to take City to the cleaners and will demand similar to the £34 million the English club paid Shakhtar Donetsk for Fernandinho.
