Manchester City: Fans blame Pep Guardiola for Manchester derby loss - Manchester City

Responding to a post by Man City Xtra, many Manchester City supporters have been blaming Pep Guardiola’s potential tactical blunders for their side’s Manchester derby loss on Sunday evening – laying into the Spaniard on social media. 

Guardiola, who started different full-backs than usual, playing Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo as opposed to the usually favoured Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy, watched on as his side lost their seventh league game of the season – the most of his managerial career in a single season to date.

As well as replacing the full-backs, the ex-Barcelona boss opted not to start Gabriel Jesus or Riyad Mahrez – despite both arguably hitting a decent run of form recently. Anthony Martial opened the scoring for United minutes from half time before Scott McTominay fired the ball into an empty net seconds from the full time whistle – with City supporters since going on to blast the ‘useless‘ rotation from their manager on social media as a result.
