Manchester City: Fans criticise Bernardo Silva following mixed season form

Manchester City: Fans criticise Bernardo Silva following mixed season form - Manchester City

Responding to a tweet by Manchester City YouTuber Steven Mcinerney, many Sky Blues have highlighted 2018/2019 star Bernardo Silva’s debatable lack of form this season – taking to social media and criticising the ‘extremely average‘ 25-year-old who has ‘not been the same player‘.

Silva, who won City’s Player of the Season accolade last campaign for a string of influential performances, has debatably been unable to replicate that same presence this time round. According to WhoScored.com, the former Monaco midfielder averaged more shots per game (1.7) and key passes (2) last season – even despite the fact Silva has completed more dribbles this campaign (1.5). These statistics could potentially highlight the Portuguese attacker’s slight drop in form, with supporters now picking up on it through social media. Manager Pep Guardiola has consistently rotated the Portugal international with Riyad Mahrez on the right-hand-side, which could have perhaps lead to lack of momentum.

Regardless, many City supporters have definitely picked up on the drop in form – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
