Manchester City: Fans flock to hail Micah Richards following Twitter vote

In response to a Twitter post by Manchester City fan account YourMCFC, many Sky Blues supporters have been showing their love for ex-academy favourite Micah Richards – claiming he was ‘immense‘ and a ‘true City legend‘.
Richards, who played 246 games for the Citizens from 2005 to 2014, scoring nine goals and assisting 14 others (Transfermarkt), became a fan favourite at the Etihad following his rise into the first team under Stuart Pearce. The Englishman also partnered fellow club cult hero Richard Dunne at centre-back during Sven-Goran Eriksson’s 2007/2008 tenure, putting on a string of decent displays which earned him an England call-up.
However, despite a debatably brilliant 2011/2012 season under Roberto Mancini (WhoScored), Richards suffered from various fitness issues which eventually led to him being sold in 2015. Despite this, when asked who impressed more at City out of Craig Bellamy, Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Richards, many Citizens picked out the latter man for worthy praise.

It’s hard to look past SWP as he was at City when we were not very much at all, but Richards could’ve been one of the best RBs in the world if injuries didn’t affect him so badly
