The Premier League champions were heading to Anfield with an already extensive injury list, but now their fitness problems have become that much worse.
Manchester City will be without Ederson for their upcoming crunch title clash away to Liverpool, Pep Guardiola has confirmed, joining the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Aymeric Laporte, Leroy Sane, David Silva and Rodrigo on the sidelines.
Who should be starting for Manchester City, Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus?
Despite having one of the most in-depth squads in the league, even City will feel the impact of another hammer blow, as star keeper Ederson is forced to sit out of their most crucial game of the season to date.
The Brazilian sweeper keeper is arguably integral to the way City play out from the back, with potential stand-in Claudio Bravo failing to quite match up to the ability of his teammate.
Bravo was also sent off in the Sky Blues’ last game against Atalanta in the Champions League, forcing defender Kyle Walker to jump between the sticks for the final ten minutes.
Judging by the reactions on Twitter, this is the worst possible news heading into the Liverpool match, with a couple of supporters already conceding defeat.
Here’s how supporters reacted:
Might as well not turn up and take the 3-0 at this rate .
