Manchester City: Fans lament ‘toothless’ Manchester derby performance - Manchester City

Following Manchester City’s 2-0 derby defeat at Old Trafford, a result which gave rivals Manchester United their first league double over the Sky Blues for a decade, many supporters have flocked to slam the performance in response to Man City Xtra’s post

Despite having the majority of the ball on Sunday afternoon, City failed to truly stamp their authority on the contest – with United creating the best opportunities when given the chance to break away. Shortly before half time, attacker Anthony Martial drove a tame shot past Ederson who fumbled what should have arguably been a save. From then on, City attempted to draw the game level through a few decent missed opportunities – with Raheem Sterling failing to convert a superb cross by Riyad Mahrez. Chasing the game, ‘keeper Ederson was responsible for another howler – throwing the ball to Scott McTominay who buried the ball into an empty net.

As a result, many supporters have been fuming at the ‘toothless‘ and ‘embarrassing‘ display – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
