Following Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez’ training ground bust-up on international duty, the Liverpool man has reportedly stated how ‘deeply shocked’ he was at the incident.
Tensions were still running high after Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield, with the Reds now taking an eight-point lead in the title race, nine above City.
During the game, Sterling and Gomez appeared to exchange words in an aggressive confrontation, with that appearing to have boiled over during England preparations.
After Gareth Southgate’s took the decision to make the situation public and drop the Sky Blues winger from their upcoming qualifying clash against Montenegro, the Reds defender also had to release his thoughts surrounding the encounter.
According to The Times via City Xtra, Gomez was understood to have been ‘extremely shocked’ by Sterling’s confrontation and did not retaliate when he instigated the bust-up.
As a result, some City supporters have taken to Twitter to voice their opinion over the quotes.
