Manchester City: Fans laugh off reported Barcelona interest in Kevin De Bruyne

A number of Manchester City fans have scoffed at reports from Spanish media claiming that Barcelona would like to sign Kevin De Bruyne.
Mundo Deportivo reported that the La Liga club view the 28-year-old as an exceptional player who they have been tracking, with @City_Chief on Twitter stating that Barcelona “dream of” bringing him to Camp Nou. However, Mundo Deportivo added that it seems an impossibility for the Spanish champions to sign De Bruyne this summer, given that their transfer budget and that of other European clubs is likely to be heavily affected by the loss of income from no football taking place amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview with Belgian media outlet HLN at the weekend, the playmaker hinted that two years without European football, a fate that awaits Manchester City unless they can successfully appeal against their UEFA ban, would be a long time – a statement which could cast doubt on his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.
De Bruyne has been a key creative presence in Pep Guardiola’s side, his 16 Premier League assists this season the most of any player in the division, and he has contributed 50 goals and 89 assists in his 206 appearances for the club.
These Manchester City fans on Twitter gave short shrift to reports indicating Barcelona’s interest in the Belgian midfielder:

Don’t listen to this propaganda, they can barely afford Lauraro Martinez’s release clause and KDB would be double.

They paid £130 million for Coutinho, I’d expect at least £200 million for him!
