Manchester City fans were revelling in their comfortable victory over Arsenal until the club’s Twitter account did its best to inadvertently dampen their spirits with a post that fell flat with some supporters.
Following the goals that Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling scored at the Emirates Stadium, it was noticed that both reacted by stretching their arms out wide in celebration – which is arguably a rather standard response to scoring a goal.
Nevertheless, City’s official Twitter account collated images of the two celebrations, along with the caption: ‘They both sat the same class at Celebration School’.
Unfortunately, the post did not go down too well with some City fans, who weren’t very impressed with the attempt at humour – with some labelling it as ‘embarrassing’, as others urged the club to delete the message altogether.
Below are a number of those replies, which suggests City’s Twitter admin didn’t quite hit the mark with this post:
Please why do you give my club a bad name
