Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara told Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT that he thinks current Spurs striker Harry Kane could move to Manchester City in order to maximise his chances of becoming the all-time Premier League top scorer.
Can Manchester City still win the title?
The 26-year-old has 130 goals in the division, exactly half of Alan Shearer’s record total of 260, and O’Hara feels that his best chance of eclipsing the ex-Newcastle striker is to sign for the reigning Premier League champions.
Sky Sports pundit Roy Kane last weekend urged his former club Manchester United to sign Kane, but O’Hara refuted the possibility of the Tottenham striker moving to Old Trafford any time soon.
O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “If he is going to leave Tottenham, surely he is going to go where he can win trophies. And, for me, that is not going to be at Man United.
“I think he wants the [Alan] Shearer record, the Premier League all-time scoring record. I think he’s going for it and I think he’s got a good chance.
“I think if he is going to go it’s going to be Man City; it’s only Man City, for me, who can probably get him.”
Kane already has nine goals in 12 appearances for Spurs this season, in addition to six goals in his last four England games during the autumn, but even those scoring feats have been eclipsed by the likes of Erling Haaland, who has 20 goals in 13 games for Red Bull Salzburg so far this term.
In the wake of O’Hara’s comments, these Manchester City fans on Twitter aren’t keen on the thoughts of Kane moving to the Etihad Stadium:
Would take haaland instead
