Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has started the mind games ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend.
United travel to City sitting sixth in the Premier League after one of their most impressive wins of the season against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham.
With 15 games of the season gone, Solskjaer’s men are 11 points adrift of their city rivals, who are struggling to keep pace with Liverpool in the title race.
Ahead of the derby, Solskjaer said in his pre-match press conference: “At least we play every year now, it took many years before I played a Manchester derby myself. Man City are a better team now than when I was playing. Football has changed quite a lot.”
When Solskjaer was at United, City were struggling in the lower divisions of the football league, last getting promoted to the top flight in 2002.
His comments haven’t gone down well with some City fans – here’s how they reacted:

Poking the bear just before an encounter, hope Pep reminds the players about this quote at the Pep talk before the match.

Solskjaer lives in the 90s. Hope Pep tactically destroys him.

Thankfully he won’t have to wait many years (or months) to get sacked
