Ukraine had trailed 0-2 at half-time but two goals in the space of a minute towards the end of the game ensured that the teams would finish level in Dnipro, with Zinchenko scoring Ukraine’s first. [via Sky Sports]
That was the 22-year-old’s second goal during the September international break, having also scored against Lithuania in a Euro 2020 qualifier last Saturday, and he now has four goals in 29 senior caps for his country.
Zinchenko wasn’t the only Manchester City player to have made a significant impact at international level in recent days.
Raheem Sterling scored in both of England’s Euro 2020 qualifiers during the week, while Kevin De Bruyne scored one goal and set up three more in Belgium’s 4-0 win over Scotland on Monday night.
These Manchester City fans on Twitter praised Zinchenko after his goalscoring exploits for Ukraine:
I’m a city fan. But that goa did break my heart as it was against my country.
Good job Zinchenko
