The Daily Mail has reported that the 25-year-old has flown to Barcelona for a scan on his knee from specialist surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat, and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville feels that it could be a significant blow to Manchester City’s chances of winning a third straight Premier League title.
Manchester City-focused Twitter account City Chief (@City_Chief) tweeted comments from Neville about Laporte’s injury.
Gary Neville on Laporte:
“If Laporte’s injury is a serious one, it is a big problem for City..
In terms of that leader-type figure, I think Laporte has got that. I think this will cost City points.” pic.twitter.com/NID3Uxt578

The absence of the French defender comes at a time when Pep Guardiola is dealing with multiple injury concerns in his squad.
Fellow centre-back John Stones has missed the last three games with a thigh strain, while Leroy Sane has been sidelined until next year after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament and Benjamin Mendy has been out since last season after undergoing knee surgery during the summer.
But despite those body blows, these Manchester City fans on Twitter don’t think Laporte’s absence will seriously harm their trophy prospects this season:
They thought we were dead when mendy got injury. Watch pep convert Jesus to a powerful defender.

Laporte is great but City will not slow down bcz of him. Most of the games they don't defend a lot

His injury will not slow us down. We will rise up to the challenge but I wish Laporte quick recovery.

Rodri has told Pep he can fill in CB and Fernandinho or Gundogan can play that holding midfield role

Let's remember we made 100 points with Stones and Otamendi
