Manchester City: Fans slam potential UEFA decision to punish club with fine

Following the allegations of a break of Financial Fair play rules, with UEFA taking their time to investigate the situation and punish accordingly, the Athletic’s Sam Lee has revealed it looks like the club will be getting fined.
The news comes as a lot of football fans, and pundits in general, could’ve also expected a much harsher punishment – potentially banning Manchester City from the Champions League.
However, according to a recent piece from The Athletic’s Sam Lee, it looks like the Citizens will be penalised with a fine amid the investigations into potential wrongdoing via FFP – with supporters slamming the decision regardless of whether they see a ban.
Many City supporters took to Twitter and voiced their discontent with the potential decision, with the overbearing consensus being that if the club didn’t do anything wrong, why fine them?
A series of revelations about the club’s finances were made by Der Spiegel last year, with the highly contentious investigations putting a cloud over the Etihad Stadium this past 12 months.
Judging by the potential punishment, UEFA could find very little evidence to slap City with a ban, but supporters still want to contest the fine as well.
Here’s what they said in full.
Another fine🧐 absolute joke

Shouldn’t accept the fine that’s admitting you did something wrong, take them to court

Fine for what!??… wait, who cares, let the rage commence!

A fine for what? We didn’t do anything.

Why a fine though? Should fight that as well

Fight the fine. If we did nothing why pay?
