Manchester City: Fans want club to snap up Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar

According to a report from Calciomercato, Manchester City are currently in ‘pole position’ to sign promising Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar ahead of competitors Juventus – with some supporters hailing the prospect of bringing him to the Etihad Stadium this month.
Aouar, who possesses a similar average pass success rate (85.6%) to current midfield stars Kevin De Bruyne (81.3%) and David Silva (86.1%), as per WhoScored.com is thought to be of interest after a miserable campaign for Lyon, who sit in the bottom half of Ligue 1.
In fact, Pep Guardiola reportedly (per the Sun) waited for the player in the tunnel so they could speak after a Champions League game between the two sides in 2018 and talked up his ability. Indeed, he said ‘Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality’, at the time.
The 21-year-old broke onto the Ligue 1 scene during the 2017/2018 season, scoring six goals and assisting five others from midfield – could perhaps be viewed as an ideal replacement – given Guardiola’s admiration and his passing stats – for club legend David Silva, who is due to leave in the summer.
As a result, some City supporters have drooled over the prospect of snapping him up, here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Kinda similar to Barça’s Frenkie De Jong.

I rate him very highly.. Great for his age and the type of midfielders that can control the tempo and rhythm of the game.. With Silva leaving, we can make use of him
