Manchester City still have a lot of work to do if they want to catch up to Liverpool with the season finale edging closer and closer.
There is still plenty of time to play but, given how well their title rivals have been playing, City may feel they’re running out of opportunities.
Now, they’re reliant on Liverpool dropping points and that is not an easy task. Manchester City must focus on themselves and their own form as their results need to stay impeccable until the end of the season.
Whether they secure any silverware this season is yet unknown but with the group of players Man City have, they can feel confident at the very least.
It’s fairly certain that Man City will make improvements to their team next season and it makes sense for them to go all out and secure the services of a top defender like PSG’s Marquinhos.
Marquinhos, (who is valued at £54 million on Transfermarkt) could soon become one of football’s best defenders and at the age of 24, he still has plenty of time to improve.
With Vincent Kompany’s contract up in the summer, it is unknown whether or not the Belgian international will gain a new contract, hence the need for a mega signing like Marquinhos.
Alongside John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, Pep Guardiola could form a new-look back three in what would be regarded as one of the best back-lines in football.
The Brazilian international has played his part in 26 appearances so far this season, games in which he has scored three times and helped provide 11 clean-sheets.
He would be an incredible signing and one that shows Manchester City’s intent for next season and years to come.
