Manchester City reportedly eyeing double £40m swoop on La Liga giants

Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a late title surge whilst The Sun is reporting they are keen on signing the Hernandez brothers.

The Citizens put in a controlled and assured performance last night down on the south coast against Bournemouth as they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.

That victory saw them move to eight points behind leaders Chelsea but our landlord reckons it’s unlikely they are going to catch the Blues with next season a better chance for the title.

Indeed, planning for that appears to already be taking place with Lucas and Theo Hernandez eyed from Atletico Madrid.

Theo is a left-back primarily but can also play as a centre-half and that means he’d surely fit into Pep Guardiola’s policy of being able to switch all his players around at the back.

Lucas, meanwhile, is a centre-half predominantly and so would help bring extra options to the heart of the City defence with John Stones often not knowing who he is going to be paired with at the back.

It’s thought the pair could set City back £40 million in the summer.
