Manchester City set to blow Barca out of the water

Neymar

In the least surprising news thus far at the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Mail has claimed that Manchester City are set to gazump any bid Barcelona put forward for football’s hottest property.

The publication claim that City have made Neymar their number one transfer target and will stop at nothing to land the sensation. Of course the player is currently at Santos but is set on leaving after the 2014 world cup in his homeland.

Barcelona had been thought to be odds on favourites to land the forward but after the departure of Pep Guardiola it seemed Bayern Munich were in with a chance due to Neymar’s love of the manager. City may not have a Pep or a Messi, but they do have a cheque book and it seems they are more than willing to use it.

The Catalan Giants were thought to be readying a bid of around £50 million to lure the youngster to the Camp Nou, yet this is set to be blown out of the water. Keen for a marquee summer signing after their failings on multiple fronts this season the club are willing to literally break the bank or more accurately FFP regulations in order to capture the sensational forward.
