Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their side to get more players in during this summer window.
Indeed, the transfer market is always going to be an exciting affair for the mega-rich Sky Blues and the arrivals of Bernardo Silva and Ederson have already suggested it’s going to be a busy one.
For sure, then, the men from the Etihad are looking set to spend big but we’re not sure one of the latest rumours being touted is actually worth them following through on.
That rumour, then, concerns City’s supposed interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – according to Sky Sports – and though the England midfielder is a good player, he’s not what City need.
Indeed, if we’re looking additions to City’s midfield and attack – where ‘The Ox’ would find himself playing – we find the club actually needing a completely different kind of player.
For sure, going forward they have a wealth of superb talent that can play in a variety of roles in midfield and attack and Oxlade-Chamberlain would, of course, add to that.
Adding to that, though, is exactly what City shouldn’t be doing when the defensive ranks of their midfield needs much more urgent attention.
Indeed, the difference of class between their attacking options and defensive options is massive and that, if City want to win the league, is where they need to be prioritising meaning the Arsenal man, if he leaves, should be going elsewhere.
