Liverpool have strolled their way to the Premier League summit this season, surely something that will make Pep Guardiola hungrier to regain the crown should the Merseysiders lift it. However, just how do the Citizens snatch back what has belonged to them for the past two seasons?
You start with putting Ederson in goal due to the Brazilian’s ability to pass a ball, something compatriot Fernandinho has previously raved about. In defence, you play Aymeric Laporte, who has made more interceptions than any of his teammates, as per WhoScored. The side were said to be scouting Ruben Dias earlier in the campaign, and should a summer move come to fruition, he would be the perfect partner alongside the Frenchman. The Portuguese centre-half has made 1.3 tackles and won 2.1 aerial duels per game in Liga NOS, showing his talent.
Right-back would have to be Kyle Walker, seeing as though the England international was handed a new deal last summer and seems to be staying at the club. On the left, the Etihad Stadium outfit have been linked with Leicester City ace Ben Chilwell, who has contributed to more goals than Benjamin Mendy this season.
In the centre of the park, Rodrigo has enjoyed a seamless transition from La Liga to the English top-flight and averages the second-most passes per game, showing his ability to move the ball. Fernandinho was handed a one-year extension back in January and will be at the club next season.
Forming an attack is pretty easy with Riyad Mahrez, Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling the obvious choices behind lone striker Sergio Aguero, especially with David Silva leaving and Leroy Sane seemingly heading for Bayern Munich. The trio behind the Argentine have contributed to a mammoth 51 of the side’s 68 top-flight goals this season. Meanwhile, Aguero is the club’s top scorer in the league with 16.
