Bayern Munich and Germany international defender Jerome Boateng has been caught holding a late night tryst in a hotel room with a blonde model reports The Sun.
The former Manchester City defender, who joined Bayern Munich last year for £10m has quite an unusual way of preparing for a international tournament, but the media are keeping things in perspective with The Star reporting the incident has thrown the whole German squad’s preparations into turmoil.
It seems the whole story has been exaggerated according to the ex-playboy model in question anyway. Gina-Lisa Lohfink, who is now a TV presenter on Germany’s Next Top Model explained that dad-of-two Boateng just wanted a chat:
‘Jerome heard I was in Berlin and wanted to get to know me at all costs. We met in my bar around 2 am. Later on we and another friend went up to my room. But we just chatted.’
Well there we go. That story seems entirely innocent and credible. Let’s face it, a professional footballer and a former model and TV presenter would have a lot to talk about. I’m sure they spend the night discussing the possible solutions and effects of the Euro crisis.
I am shocked by the media jumping to such a sordid conclusion. After all professional footballers in general have no history of such indiscretions. If Boateng was up to ‘no good’ he must be the first badly behaved footballer ever!
Judging by Germany’s first game and victory against Portugal, if Boateng did have a spot of luck on the night in question, then this luck has certainly rubbed off onto the rest of the team. Maybe Jerome’s preparation for the Euro’s is already paying off.
