Messi reportedly personally phones Man City chief over potential summer switch

After a reasonably rocky period, it seems the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have once again begun to enjoy life under Pep Guardiola.

While the Spaniard is obviously constructing a long-term rebuild at the Etihad and a few poor results in his first season at the club was never going to seriously undermine his position in charge, it’s nice for the Sky Blues propping up the bar to see their City slickers winning with style once more.

So reports from the Sun today have caused major concern amongst the fans in the bar. They claim the 45-year-old has a major fan at former club Barcelona, with a certain Lionel Messi reportedly in favour of bringing the manager who helped craft him into perhaps the best player of all time back to the Camp Nou.

Having watched his Blaugrana side smashed 4-0 by PSG in the Champions League earlier this week, doubt has been cast over Luis Enrique’s position at the club and the masterful Argentine forward is believed to be keen on reuniting. Messi is said to have called Guardiola personally to ask him to consider a return, having left the club in 2013.

As you can well imagine, there are nerves etched on the faces of our local City fans.
