‘No thanks’ – Man City fans on Twitter not exactly impressed with latest transfer rumour

The City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story from James Ducker in The Telegraph, claiming that Manchester City are interested in Norwich’s star man, James Maddison. The fans have been turning their noses up at Maddison, although if they did their research they’d see how Maddison is destined to be a star under the right manager.

There are plenty of clubs vying for the signature of the young Englishman, which is a testament to the class that the young man possesses. The 21-year-old has bagged 14 goals and eight assists in his 41 appearances in the Championship this season leading to Arsenal, Tottenham, Southampton, Everton and Brighton all throwing their hats into the ring alongside Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as the young Canary is set to be the subject of a bidding war in the summer months.

The Citizens propping our bar up will tell you that their youth system is already producing players of Maddison’s ability and that they’d be better off looking for proven stars as they develop players such as Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko. This simply isn’t the case though, as a gem like Maddison should be appreciated by even the biggest clubs. There’s no doubting that one day very soon the 21-year-old will be plying his trade in the Premier League for one of the many clubs interested in him, the City fans though will be hoping it’s not them.
