Pep Guardiola eyeing reunion with key component from dominant Barcelona days

Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed this season on the whole and are keeping an open mind about The Daily Mail’s latest story concerning Dani Alves.

The Citizens have gone pretty well this season and could end things strongly with them still in contention for the FA Cup and Champions League respectively.

They’ll need to go some to win the Premier League, though, with their defence proving to be their weak link over the course of the domestic campaign.

Work in every position needs to be done across the back-four you feel, and it seems Pep Guardiola is eyeing one of his former key Barcelona men Dani Alves to help him out.

The Brazilian right back was world class at the Nou Camp as Barca swept all before them and whilst he’s not quite at that level – now at Juventus – he’s certainly still got plenty to offer.

City’s full-backs in general haven’t really managed to get to grips with the Catalan’s managerial ways this year and so our landlord believes getting Alves in could seriously boost City into next season.

He wouldn’t be at the club long, our landlord feels, but he’d surely have an instant impact.
