Pep Guardiola’s arrival in the Premier League has excited the punters in the Transfer Tavern no end, with fans of all English clubs excited to see how the iconic Spaniard adapts to a cold night in Stoke.
With a seemingly endless supply of funds available to him, City have been linked with all manner of top stars from around the footballing world as the 45-year old looks to impose his trademark style of play at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, according to talkSPORT, the club are close to pulling off yet another statement signing.
They claim that a £53m move for Everton defender John Stones is edging ever closer, with a deal for the England man expected to be wrapped up within days.
The fee would eclipse the £50m deal that saw David Luiz join PSG from Chelsea in 2014, with the 22-year old former Barnsley man set to become the most expensive defender of all time.
He infamously came close to joining Chelsea last term, though the Toffees stood firm over their valuation, though Stones is believed to have told Ronald Koeman of his desire to move to Manchester.
