Manchester City supporters are eagerly anticipating their side’s clash with Arsenal in the final of the Carabao Cup this weekend, just days after their team’s quadruple hopes came grinding to a halt at the hands of League One high-flyers Wigan Athletic.
Pep Guardiola’s men suffered just their second domestic defeat of the campaign on Monday night courtesy of a 1-0 loss at the DW Stadium, with Will Grigg’s second half effort enough for the Latics to book their place in the last eight of the FA Cup, at the same time ending City’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple. Yet our resident Citizens fans have quickly turned their attentions to Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, where the North West outfit will seek to win the trophy for a third time in five years against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
Thus, there are many excited City supporters in the Tavern at present, although their side may well have suffered a big setback ahead of the showpiece if recent comments from Guardiola in his pre-match press conference are anything to go by (via the club’s official Twitter handle).

And that’s because the City boss has cast doubts over the fitness of winger Raheem Sterling, scorer of 20 goals in just 36 games in all competitions for the Premier League’s champions-elect this season.
The 23-year-old has been reinvigorated under Guardiola and has had a hand in 30 goals in those 36 appearances, en route to comfortably beating his best-ever season tally of 11 goals for City in 2015/16, and indeed Liverpool the campaign before.
Yet Guardiola has suggested that the England international is a doubt for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, saying: ‘I don’t know if he will be ready.’

And these comments are sure to come as a blow to our resident Citizens fans, many of whom will be hoping that Sterling will indeed by passed fit to face the Gunners this weekend.
Landlord’s verdict: Raheem Sterling has enjoyed his best season to date with Manchester City, scoring 20 goals and laying on ten assists in just 36 matches for the club, thus playing a huge part in their quest to win three trophies this term.
Yet the England international may not be available to face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, as City boss Pep Guardiola has in his pre-match press conference suggested that the 23-year-old has a ‘muscle problem’, and is thus a doubt for the encounter.
And this is sure to strike a potentially big blow into Guardiola’s preparations for this weekend’s game, with Sterling having been an outstanding performer for his side this term, yet seemingly unlikely to face the Gunners in the Wembley showpiece.
