This latest transfer news has undoubtedly excited our resident Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City are preparing another move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez in the summer transfer window, much to the delight of the punters propping up the bar here in the Transfer Tavern. The Algerian winger almost joined the current Premier League leaders on the final day of the January transfer window, however Pep Guardiola’s team were seemingly unwilling to meet the Foxes’ huge valuation of the winger.
However, it is reported that Guardiola is a big fan of Mahrez, and he’s prepared to test Leicester’s resolve once more with an approach in the summer window. Indeed, the board at the Etihad will reportedly back their man to make a major signing over the course of the summer.
Manchester City also missed out on the signing of Alexis Sanchez during the January window, and it is believed that signing another attacker is of interest to Guardiola after a spate of injuries left his squad a little light.
The Algerian international is supremely talented and would start for most teams – if not all of them – in the Premier League. Despite City’s wealth of attacking options, Mahrez would be a significant acquisition.
